Radiation Oncologist - Locum Tenens Opportunity Near Worcester, MA
We are seeking an experienced Radiation Oncologist for a locum tenens position near Worcester, MA. This opportunity offers a flexible schedule and involves providing both inpatient and outpatient care. You will play a critical role in covering gaps while we recruit a permanent provider, ensuring that patients receive the high-quality care they need.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive radiation oncology care to both inpatient and outpatient populations.
- Perform required procedures, including:
- Conventional Radiotherapy
- 3D Conformal Radiotherapy (3D-CRT)
- Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT)
- Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT)
- Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS)
- Image-Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT)
- Fractionated Stereotactic Radiotherapy
- Manage an outpatient caseload of approximately 25 patients per day.
- Handle inpatient consults, treatment planning, weekly on-treatment visits, and follow-ups.
- Participate in weekly Tumor Boards, contributing to the multidisciplinary care team.
- Collaborate with two other Radiation Oncologists and one Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to deliver optimal patient care.
- Utilize Meditech/Mosaiq EMR systems for accurate and timely documentation.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests and imaging, and prescribe appropriate treatments.
- Maintain excellent communication with patients, staff, and multidisciplinary teams.
Schedule and Details:
- Clinic Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM 4:00 PM.
- Weekend Call: 48-hour weekend call every other weekend (8:00 AM Saturday to 8:00 AM Monday).
- Location: Near Worcester, MA.
- Start Date: ASAP.
- End Date: Ongoing, through summer 2025.
- Practice Setting: Inpatient and outpatient.
- Call Ratio: Every other weekend.
- Credentialing: Approximately 60 days.
- Local Provider Preferred: Only mileage will be reimbursed.
Qualifications:
- Required: Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Radiation Oncologist with an active or pending Massachusetts license.
- Licenses: Active DEA and Massachusetts controlled substance license required.
- Experience: Proficiency in radiation techniques such as 3D conformal, IMRT, SBRT, and SRS (no brachytherapy required).
- Preferred: Experience with Pinnacle, Velocity, Mosaiq, and Epic software.
- Skills: Strong communication skills, ability to work well with patients and staff, and prompt, accurate documentation in the EMR.
